Saudi Arabia: SASO Environmental Performance Efficiency Card for Paints & Varnishes
According to the latest notice issued by the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO), all suppliers of paints and varnishes are reminded that the requirement stipulated in the Technical Regulations for Paints and Varnishes – under which paint products listed in Appendix (1) must obtain an Environmental Performance Efficiency Card – will take effect on October 1, 2026.
Products without the required Environmental Performance Efficiency Card will not be allowed to be placed on the Saudi local market.
Products requiring the Environmental Performance Efficiency Card include:
Latex Paints
1.1 Interior matte paints and ceiling stains
1.2 Topcoats usable with single or multi-layer primers
1.3 Other water-based paints
Paints and Varnishes
